Day 1
after waking up at 430am and having a bad breakfast at BT, boarded the plane and admist my sleepiness, we made our way out of phuket international airport and took a cab to the resortel. stayed on the 4th floor and there was no lift. it's just a small and cosy place i guess. :) didnt go to the beach right away, instead, we walked around patong and bought some water... checked in, and rest a bit before getting picked up for our first tour- 4 in 1 safari half day tour.
we were whisked off in a jeep! off to a mini foresty area... introduced to the mahouts and the elephants. so we spent a good half hour sitting on the elephant and trekking one round around the training area. so yes, we had to go up and down hill... and our dear mahout was as mischievous as the elephant and we were wondering why do other people seem to have such an easy ride while me and my mum were swaying horribly on our seat! the silly elephant was urged by our mahout to go faster! haha. but it was a great exhilarating experience as you really have to put total trust in the elephant and the mahout that they will ensure your safety. and once u relax, u will be able to enjoy the bumpy ride :)
other than that, we saw little elephants being trained, rubber trees, coconuts, water buffalo, monkey... even thai cooking! it's a weird mix i would say but nonetheless informative. :)
so that's me and our mahout and the elephant after i fed her some fruits...
and that's me on the buffalo! it's very pretty!!!!
so after having that tour, we got ourselves back to the extreme end of patong beach and went over to this restaurant that phuket.com recommended. it's SUPER EXPENSIVE. it's called baan rim pa. and apparently it serves dishes served in the royal palace or something like that. but for the atmosphere, it was worthed it. we probably looked super out of place in our t-shirts and berms and sneakers after the trip while the rest of the tourists were in pretty tops and slippers (very beach wear). plus we weren't hungry and just ordered som tum, a starter and a dessert. (we probably looked cheapo) and so the waitresses weren't very friendly baah.
the total sum came up to 1221THB. fainted lah. but this is the sunset view we had. :D
Day 2:
woke up at 630am because we were supposed to be picked up at 730am for our trip to the phi phi islands. i miss the waters there :( honestly it was the best boat ride ever. jumping up and down on the waters. one advice though: never bring ur wife on this trip if she's not a person to enjoy such bumpy rides or if she gets sick easily. do not. i repeat. do not. u'll end up quarrelling. ahha.
so this is the waters on the way to phi phi islands. an hour of speedboat and we were all wet....
and then we arrive at phi phi don island's monkey beach....
so after getting back to our room we showered and headed out to have dinner at this place called 'sabai-sabai'... we found it while shopping the night before and realised that there were a lot of people queueing up for it! we order green curry and tom yam goong. and i had iced coffee! when the food came i was superbly happy. the tom yam was not that spicy and very sour. and very kai1 wei4. and the green curry... very creamy and just right. not too sweet nor too spicy. maybe we were too hungry as well but we were enjoying our food. UNTIL i felt giddy. (like now) i thought it was due to the coffee with the spicy food. or was it that we cannot mix tom yam and green curry? ahha anyways, lots of hypotheses and so we decided to play safe and i finished the green curry while my mum had the tom yam.
Day 3:
after having a rushed breakfast the day before, we decided to take things nice and slow on the last day. just using the beach chairs (had to pay for them!) and enjoying the sun and hearing the waves... and people watching (half naked ladies anyone?)... we decided to take things real slow.
that is the whole of patong beach. rather. the whole beach area is filled with beach chairs. quite sad though...
so after packing up we went for a foot massage! what an experience. :) i want more!!! ahha.
all in all, a great mini-getaway... though i could have done a lot more things... :(
other experiences to share.. will update another time!!!!
