had a bad working day. woke up, wanted to read the notes again, and settle on my imaginary repertoire if i ever get the chance to hold my own one hour recital... after realising that i have some stuff i didn't know, and read it, went to work at ngee ann primary.
was late cos i went to pay my parking fine.
reached there, greeted by a bunch of boisterous kids, running around, shouting "ms teo! she keep pushing me!" or "ms teo! helloooo!!!!" or "mrs... nono... miss teo!!! do we have break today?"
started warm-ups, gave them the "i-am-irritated-u-better-behave" look. not that it works. k. it does, for 5 mins. then they start doing their own nonsense again. AGAIN!!!! tried to teach them new stuff. and one student went "miss teo, if u keep criticising us, why don't u show us". LIKE HELLO! I DID! U WERE TALKING! so i dug out the patience, and said, "ok, later."
plus. sigh. i seriously did not have the patience to coax them into learning a canto song. they took the score, saw that it's chinese and heard they have to learn it in canto, and started "miss teo... this is so difficult... can i don't sing?"
freaking idiots. lack backbone. huh. no use. difficult don't sing don't sing lah. what kind of attitude is this. if you aren't interested in singing, in learning, in enriching yourself, u aren't wanted in the choir. get lost.
was so pissed. lucky the other instructor had the patience to coax them.
thinking back, i realised i shouldn't have treated them like that. they are, afterall, kids. but they shd start learning to accept challenges.
oh wells. is it the stress? i hope not, after work, met up friend for lunch... it's great.. never see him for so long... and it feels really great when u can just talk to someone about anything and everything... :) lunch made me happy!
i can't wait for tmr. end it. and i can move on with my life!!! and learn new stuff!!!!! grr!
so if i have an hour's recital... this will be my programme:
1) Italian Concerto by JS Bach
2) Beethoven's Sonata Op. 10 No. 3
3) Hungarian Rhapsodie No. 2 by Franz Liszt
4) Poulenc's Napoli Suite
5) Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (the two piano version i played with esh... if they allow it)
how's that! :) i think it's more than an hour though......sigh. so is my exam programme.. i am so worried that it'll over-run... like they say "prepare a programme of 40-45 mins", i think i overshoot by a bit. but.... rule no. 1 of piano playing : Thou shalt not rush. yes. no matter how much my fingers will freeze and thaw after that, i shall tolerate. REN3.
and bear with the painful feeling whenever my left hand index finger strikes the keyboard.
thanks to all who wished me luck!!! :) i'll definitely smoke my way through the much feared viva voce part of the exam.
