change

change is everywhere. from little things such as transport lines, new discoveries, our lives.. everything. but there are certain things that will never change. and that is true love and friendship and the love of family. that is one thing that i am certain of.

ever since i've been back from melbourne, i do admit i have had periods of time when i felt so drifted apart from friends i used to know. but i chided myself. "how can i expect people to stay the same when people will change and move on and so have i?" and after i reminded myself of that, i realised that your friends are actually the same as before. they maybe leading different lives from you, doing a lot of things, not having time for you, etc... but it is not the amount of time u spend talking nor meeting up that measures friendships. how can we forget the process of reaching the stage of friends? how can we forget the times spent together in school and how the friendship was forged? and how can one judge friends this way?

i'm thankful for the friends i have whom are interested in my life even though i don't see them at all ... i may not have talked to them for a long time nor met up with them (cos we lead such different lives) but the friendship is still there. they may have been busy when i so wanted their attention, hoping that they will have time to meet up, when they don't. but when they do, i do not turn them away, nor treat them differently, as if they do not treat me as a friend.

my mum is a great example of this. she has not contacted her friend for ages, but recently she went up to KL to visit her, and i tell you. great friends are really .. admirable. they can sit down for lunch and talk till the restaurant waitress said.. "sorry, can u all pay up first? we're closing for the afternoon... " "but can we stay down here to chat?" "sure!" and they did.. till the restuarant opened up for dinner time. and by ages, i mean years. they have both changed yes. but has their friendship changed? no. to my mum, there's nothing to do in KL. but if her primary concern is just to meet up with a friend, anything u do is considered interesting and great fun.

and that is life.
