the start of something

AMS has started. a week ago actually...

thankful that it has been a great experience so far. got to do quite a bit of things so far... so the 1st 2 weeks have just been us trying to get used to getting around the department and hospital, finding out what our project might be about... doing a lot of reading, (background reading actually)

i realised that it is painful to see kids cry. to see them refuse to get anaesthesised; to see them kick away while we force the mask on them; to see the look in their parent's eyes. and that somehow it's such a relief to know that people are breathing! to actually see kids' lips turn blue isn't a great sight.

and neurosurgery is just... rare.

other than that, i think i'm glad that i'm enjoying what i'm doing. to be able to wake up each day, feeling excited about what i will be able to do, admist the sorethroat, cough and blocked nose, and also admist the uber cold weather nowadays... is something that i did not expect myself to experience.

so here's to a great year of research at the royal children's. maybe not being able to go to london isn't such a bad thing afterall. :)
