sort of finished '1 litre of tears' today. nothing much to do, readings were too difficult to digest in my clogged up state, so i resorted to watching this super tear-jerking jap drama.
introduced to it by steven, who told me 'you'll really cry one litre of tears !!!!' before i came back this year, i never watched it till now. first 2 episodes, i was like.. 'oh okay, so it's about a teenage girl who found out that she spinocerebellar degeneration disease... then she'll slowly not be able to walk/talk and eventually lose muscle control...' and i didn't tear at all . until the 4th episode.
and ever since, till the tenth episode, i've been crying. maybe it's the acting... maybe it's the storyline.. but i've become so engaged in this drama, that i imagine her to be my friend and actually watching her tackle the obstacles she has before her. and it is painful.
and one does realise that it is a blessing to be alive. and that family is important. and somehow, parents are always right. that as long as we are able to dream about the future, everything is worthwhile. and obviously cliche, but we really will not know the importance of something till we lose it. in this case... something that made me think.. is that somehow, we take simple things in life for granted. walking.. talking... to be able to think of having a future with someone... things like that. what will happen when the liberty to do just those things is taken away from us?
