monthly updates.

seems like i'm more inclined to update my blog monthly. :) life's been fulfilling and busy and i'm really pretty much the same. only 7 more weeks to the end of semester. to think of it this way, i technically have 2 more years before i start work. woohoO!

this is a LONG OVERDUE update. Singapore Day 2008 was in Melbourne this year. as someone who loves being involves in all sorts of things (sometimes), i signed up to be a volunteer at the event. Not wanting to miss out on the fun, i volunteered for the first shift. interesting how there were lots of us for the first shift (8.30 to 1030am) while the event was only suppose to start at 10.30am. :)

nonetheless i had fun. met some friends there during my shift, made some new friends... where are all the singaporeans hiding in melbourne!?

so clockwise from the first picture top left:
1. that's my station. was suppose to check the roll if attendees have forgotten to bring their e-ticket to the event, or if they claimed that they have registered for the event. so we had volunteers combing the horrendously long queue and they will check with us 4 at the table if a person did not bring their ticket and insists they are succesfully registered. really, it was supposed to be an exclusive event for singaporeans. but i was certain i saw heaps of malaysians around!

the rest: queues and more queues. you queue to get into the event, you queue to get more food. O_o the favourite past time of all singaporeans. on the other hand, i was amazed at the orderliness of things. though obviously there were some ugly singaporean behaviour around, (cutting queue and all), but on the whole it was good. had my fair share of vitamin D that day. and of cos my dose of laughter just hearing the jingle of PCK right on Melbourne stage. and listening 'singlish' all around me. gave a surreal feel that i'm back in singapore where it's hot but not humid. and of cos, a huge green patch of land. hm.

the second most exciting event was the wedding of my ex tutor in IH. it was a lovely sunday morning at Carlton gardens... and of cos we (his students) were all excited and privileged to witness his wedding :) certainly gave me ideas for mine! i still believe that weddings shouldn't be a boastful one where one would invite people to give 'face', but really, to be a celebration together with all those who rejoice together with the newly-wed. on a side note, just found out one of my classmates from sec school is getting married O_o ahhh the age where all the red envelopes start to flood our mail boxes!
